Jasmina Bourgeois Therapy & Integration
About Jasmina Bourgeois, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Hello!
I am Jasmina Bourgeois (she/her), and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor at Depth Counseling, a group practice in Chicago, IL. I also hold the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential, granted by the National Board of Certified Counselors. As a multilingual Serbian therapist living and practicing in the U.S., I offer culturally sensitive trauma-informed individual psychotherapy to adults of all backgrounds and identities, and welcome clients who feel more comfortable speaking Serbian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, or Croatian.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with adults from diverse cultural backgrounds and have developed extensive experience treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I currently provide virtual psychotherapy services to adults located in Illinois and Puerto Rico.
Therapeutic Approach
I am trained in psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapy, a depth-oriented approach that goes beyond simply relieving surface symptoms. This method explores and transforms the deeper unconscious feelings, beliefs, and relational patterns that shape how we experience ourselves and relate to others. It helps us understand the roots of our behaviors and modify our relationship to our needs and emotions. By bringing these hidden dynamics into awareness, this therapy approach fosters lasting healing and meaningful change. It also supports integration of parts of the self that may have been silenced, split off, or misunderstood, creating more space for authenticity, wholeness, and self-trust.
My work is grounded in the understanding that healing happens in relationship. Much of our wounding begins in connection with caregivers, systems, or environments that could not fully meet us, and it is through safe, attuned connection that we begin to come home to ourselves. I hold deep trust in each person’s innate capacity for growth, integration, and change when given the right space to unfold.
At the heart of my approach is the belief that each person carries a one-of-a-kind inner story and lived experience. I approach treatment with deep respect for individuality, meeting each client where they are, attuning to their emotional needs, and tailoring the work to support their unique path. I’ll meet you as the complex, layered person you are, helping you process and make sense of how your unique experiences, relationships, and environment have shaped you, and guiding you toward deeper self-awareness and wholeness.
My Journey
My journey to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. I have always felt drawn to the mysteries of the human mind and pulled to understand the nature of the human condition. Since a young age, I gravitated toward people and felt called to help others. I grew up as a mixed child in the former Yugoslavia, where multiple ethnicities, identities, and perspectives coexisted, sometimes peacefully, sometimes in significant conflict. That early experience of navigating similarity and difference gave me a deep appreciation for the complexity of identity, belonging, and emotional nuance. It taught me how to hold space for multiple truths and shaped my natural openness to diversity in all its forms.
I’ve also experienced therapy as a client. I know how vulnerable it can feel to begin this kind of work, and I also know how profoundly life-changing it can be. That experience fuels my commitment to offering a warm, grounded, and nonjudgmental space where your whole self is welcome.
Beyond Therapy
Beyond my work as a therapist, I find balance and inspiration in the performing arts, nature, and deep conversations. Traveling, yoga, creativity, outdoor adventures, and ongoing learning help me stay connected to the wonder and richness of being human, something I strive to bring into my work as well.
If this resonates with you, I would be honored to support you on your path.
